Ingenieure des US-Unternehmens SpaceX haben einen verdächtigen Schubvektorsteuerungsumwandler ausgelagert in der zweiten Stufe seiner Falcon 9Trägerrakete, was am Dienstag den Start des kommerziellen DragonRaumfrachters gestoppt hatte. Der Start des Dragon-Raumfrachters an der Spitze der Falcon 9-Rakete ist nun angesetzt für Samstag um 4:47 a.m.EST mit Direkt-Übertragung von NASA TV, was planmäßig um 3:30 a.m. beginnen soll. Donnerstags Expedition 42 Forschungshöhepunkte schlossen ein Paar fortgeschrittene Fernsteuerungsexperimente innerhalb der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) ein. Ein Experiment studiert die Durchführbarkeit von Robotersteuerung am Boden vom Weltraum aus durch ein Besatzungsmitglied unter Verwendung eines weiterentwickelten Steuerknüppels, der fühlbare Rückmeldung bietet. Das andere verwendet Bowlingkugel-große Satelliten, bekannt als SPHERES, programmiert durch teilnehmende Mannschaften von Highschool-Studenten, um Aufgaben, die relevant sind für zukünftige Weltraummissionen zu bewerkstelligen. Ein weiteres Experiment erforscht akustische Verfahren zur Ortung von Punktionen auf der Außenseite der Raumstation durch den Menschen oder Mikrometeoriten-Einschläge verursacht. Die Besatzungsmitglieder untersuchten auch die die Plasmaumgebung der ISS und fotografierten die laufenden von Menschen verursachten und natürlichen Veränderungen der Erdoberfläche.
