Die US-Raumfahrtbehörde NASA und das US-Unternehmen SpaceX haben am Donnerstag angekündigt, daß der Start des kommerziellen DragonRaumfrachters nicht früher als am 6. Januar geplant ist. Die sechsköpfige Expedition 42-Besatzung verschob ihre Vorbereitungen für die Dragon-Mission und konzentrierte sich auf Augenuntersuchungen und Stationswartung. Astronaut Terry Virts, der zuvor 2010 auf der Mission STS-130 das Space Shuttle „Endeavour“ gesteuert hatte, arbeitete am Sabatier-System, das Wasser auf der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) produziert. Er nahm mit Kommandant Barry Wilmore (USA/NASA) und Astronautin Samantha Cristoforetti im Laufe des Vormittags und Nachmittags auch Teil an einer Reihe von Augenuntersuchungen. Wilmore und Cristoforetti waren auch Partner bei der Arbeit an der Biolab (BLB)-Einrichtung im europäischen “Columbus”-Wissenschaftslabor, die Anlage ermöglicht Experimente an Mikroorganismen, Zellen, Gewebekulturen, kleinen Pflanzen und wirbellosen Kleintieren. Die drei Kosmonauten – AlexanderSamokutjajew (Russland/Roskosmos), Anton Schkaplerow (Russland/Roskosmos) und Jelena Serowa (Russland/Roskosmos) – waren wieder bei der Arbeit für mehr Wartung innerhalb des “Sarja”-Moduls und laufender russischen Wissenschaft in ihrem Segment des Orbitallabors.

-US-Präsident John F. Kennedy wurde bei einem Attentat in Dallas 1963 getötet. Kennedy wurde von zwei Gewehrschüssen tödlich getroffen. Als Tatverdächtiger wurde Lee Harvey Oswald verhaftet und zwei Tage später in Polizeigewahrsam von dem Nachtclubbesitzer Jack Ruby getötet. Nach Kennedys Ermordung wurde US-Vizepräsident Lyndon B. Johnson sein Nachfolger als 36. Präsident der USA. Die Umstände des Attentats, ob Oswald der Täter war und ob er Mittäter oder Hintermänner hatte, sind bis heute umstritten. Kurz nach dem Attentat kommt eine Untersuchungskommission unter dem Vorsitz des Richters Earl Warren zu dem Schluss, dass es sich bei Oswald um einen Einzeltäter handelt. Dem widerspricht ein Sonderausschuss des amerikanischen Kongresses, der in den späten 70er Jahren den Mord nochmals untersucht. Demnach sind es mindestens zwei Täter gewesen, die den Präsidenten erschossen haben. Die öffentliche Meinung war von Anfang an polarisiert. Viele Kritiker der offiziellen Version vertreten die Ansicht, daß Präsident Kennedy das Opfer einer Verschwörung wurde, wovon laut Umfrageergebnissen auch die Mehrheit der amerikanischen Bürger überzeugt ist.
