Die neu ergänzte Expedition 49-Besatzung ist bereit, um Salat anzubauen, um zu lernen, wie frisches Essen im Weltraum wächst. Inzwischen ist die Internationale Raumstation (ISS)  bereit für einen weiteren Mannschaftswechsel. Das neue Crewmitglied Shane Kimbrough installiert Hardware und Pflanzenkissen für das Veg-03 Pflanzenwachstumsexperiment. Die Studie ist eine Validierung der  notwendigen Werkzeuge und Verfahren zur Pflanzenzucht, um Astronauten frische Lebensmittel zu bieten. Kimbrough und seine Sojus-Kameraden Sergei Nikolajewitsch Ryschikow (Russland/Roskosmos) und Andrei Iwanowitsch Borissenko  (Russland/Roskosmos) sind in ihrer ersten Woche an Bord der ISS. Sie machen sich vertraut mit ihrem neuen Zuhause im Weltraum, wo sie bis Februar leben werden. Die Astronauten Kate Rubins und Takuya Ōnishi  (Japan/JAXA) erforschen, wie das Leben im All die Atmung beeinträchtigt für das Atemwegsüberwachungsexperiment. Das Duo befand sich in der “Quest”– Luftschleuse, Messungen durchführend, um zu ermitteln, wieviel Stickstoffdioxid ausgeatmet und im Blut diffundiert wird. Kommandant Anatoli Alexejewitsch Iwanischin  (Russland/ Roskosmos) packt das Sojus MS-01Raumschiff, das ihn, Rubins und Ōnishi  Samstag Nacht zurück zur Erde bringen wird, was ihre viermonatige Mission beendet. Sie werden Mitte November ersetzt werden, wenn die ISS-Expedition 50/51-Crewmitglieder Oleg Wiktorowitsch Nowizki (Russland/Roskosmos), Peggy Annette Whitson (USA/NASA) und Thomas Pesquet  (Frankreich/ESA) mit ihrem Sojus MS-03-Raumschiff eintreffen.

Drei neue Besatzungsmitglieder sind an Bord der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS). Die Luken der ISS und des Sojus TMA-20MRaumschiffs öffneten sich um 8:20 a.m. EDT (14:20 Uhr MESZ) und markierte die Ankunft von Robert Shane Kimbrough (USA/NASA), Andrei Iwanowitsch Borissenko (Russland/Roskosmos) und Sergei Nikolajewitsch Ryschikow  (Russland/Roskosmos). Ihr Raumschiff dockte um 5:52 a.m. (11:52 Uhr MESZ) mit dem “Poisk”-Modul der Station. Zum Andock-Zeitpunkt flog die ISS 251 Meilen über Südrussland. Das Trio vereinigt sich mit Expedition 49-Kommandant Anatoli Alexejewitsch Iwanischin  (Russland/Roskosmos) und den Bordingenieuren Kate Rubins und Takuya Ōnishi  (Japan/JAXA), die sich seit Juli an Bord des orbitalen Komplexes befinden. Die ankommende Crew wird ein wenig mehr als vier Monate zusammen an Bord der Raumstation verbringen und kehrt Ende Februar zur Erde zurück. Die Besatzungsmitglieder werden an Bord der Raumstation zu mehr als 250 Forschungsexperimenten auf verschiedenen Gebieten wie Biologie, Geowissenschaften, Humanforschung, Physik und Technologieentwicklung beitragen.

Kommandant Terry Virts war am Freitag der Wartungsmann, als er Fenster inspizierte und Öffnungen innerhalb des “Destiny”-Labormoduls auf Staubbildung prüfte. Virts führte auch mehr Klempnerarbeiten durch und ersetzte einen Recyclingtank im Wasserrückgewinnungssystem. Samantha Cristoforetti war im ESA-“Columbus”-Modul und setzte ihre einwöchigen Forschungsaktivitäten im BioLab fort. Sie führte das TripleLux-B-Experiment durch und benutzte den Handschuhkasten des BioLab zum zweiten Mal diese Woche, um Zellmechanismen zu studieren, welche eine Beeinträchtigung der Immunfunktionen in der Mikrogravitation verursachen.  Auf der Erde sind drei neue Besatzungsmitglieder im Cosmonaut Hotel in Baikonur/Kasachstan und warten, um sich  Expedition 43 anzuschliessen. Sojus TMA-16M-Kommandant Gennadi Padalka (Russland/Roskosmos) und die Ein-Jahres-Besatzungsmitglieder Scott Kelly (USA/NASA) und Michail Kornijenko (Russland/Roskosmos) bereiten sich für den Start am 27. März vor. Kelly und Kornijenko werden bis März 2016 im Weltraum bleiben. Padalka wird am 11. September zur Erde zurückkehren.

Die Expedition 43-Besatzungsmitglieder arbeiteten am Mittwoch an Forschungs-Hardware. Auf der Erde plant die russische Bodenkontrolle, die Triebwerke eines angedockten Raumtransporters zu zünden, um die Umlaufbahn der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) anzuheben. Astronautin Samantha Cristoforetti beendete die Aktivierung und Erprobung des Muscle Atrophy Research and Exercise System (MARES). Sie kontrollierte auch Kabel und Stecker eines Wissenschafts-Gefrierschranks auf Korrosion. Kommandant Terry Virts konfigurierte Hardware und überprüfte Prozeduren für das Advanced Colloids Experiment Microscopy-3 (ACE M-3. Virts führte auch eine jährliche Überprüfung der Zertifizierung der Microgravity Science Glovebox durch. Er inspizierte und reinigte rund um die Haltevorrichtung.
