US-Raumfähre „Endeavour“ zum letzten Mal an ISS angedockt

Die US-Raumfähre „Endeavour“ hat gestern ohne Probleme an der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) angedockt.   Das komplizierte Andockmanöver habe um 12:14 Uhr MESZ stattgefunden, teilte die US-Raumfahrtbehörde NASA mit. Vor dem Andocken absolvierte das Space Shuttle in einer Entfernung von 182 Metern das Rendezvous Pitch Maneuver (RPM) durch. Bei dieser „Rolle rückwärts“ wurden Aufnahmen von der Unterseite der „Endeavour“ gemacht, um festzustellen, ob und wie stark der Hitzeschild beim Start durch Schaumstoffteile beschädigt wurde. Das Space Shuttle war am Montag vom Weltraumbahnhof Cape Canaveral/Florida mit den sechs Astronauten Mark Kelly, Gregory H. Johnson, Michael Fincke, Greg Chamitoff, Andrew Feustel und Roberto Vittori an Bord zu seiner 25. und letzten Mission (Bezeichnung STS-134) ins All gestartet. Die Crew der „Endeavour“ bringt das Alpha-Magnet-Spektrometer 02 (AMS-02) sowie Ammoniak-und Hochdrucktanks, zwei Antennen und Ersatzteile zur Station. Der zwei Milliarden Dollar (eine Milliarde Euro) teure Teilchendetektor dient der Suche nach Antimaterie aus der Zeit des Urknalls im Universum. Während der 16-tägigen Mission sind vier Weltraumspaziergänge der Shuttle-Crew zu Wartungsarbeiten an der ISS geplant.
