Auf der Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver/Kanada waren am Freitag zwei Schauspieler der US-Science-Fiction-Serie “Raumschiff Enterprise: Das nächste Jahrhundert” (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”/TNG – 1987 bis 1994): Brent Spiner (Android Lieutenant Commander Data) und Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi).
Zum 25. Jahrestag der legendären Science-Fiction-Show sagten die beiden Schauspieler, daß sie keine Ahnung hatten, daß es ein Franchise hervorbringt. das bis heute andauert, als sie unterzeichneten, um den Pilotfilm zu drehen. „Arbeit. Sie boten mir einen Job, der ein Jahr oder 10 Monate dauern würde, es würde der längste Job, den ich jemals hatte im Fernsehen und ich sagte: Wo muss ich unterschreiben“, sagte Sirtis. „Es war nur ein Job, wirklich an der Zeit. Ich war kein großer “Star Trek”-Fan.“
„Nun, natürlich, bin ich, weil, äh, sie mir alles gekauft haben, was ich besitze.“
Als sie ein Wirbelwind Fotoshooting in der Touring Exhibit absolvierten, sagte Spiner, er hatte keine Ahnung, was voraus war. „Ich glaube es immer noch nicht“, sagte er. „Ich nehme es nicht besonders ernst, das ganze Werk, aber es ist fast 50 Jahre alt, „Star Trek“, und wenn etwas ein halbes Jahrhundert trifft und es läuft immer noch, muss man es semi-ernst nehmen.
