Die US-Raumfahrtbehörde NASA und das US-Unternehmen SpaceX haben am Donnerstag angekündigt, daß der Start des kommerziellen DragonRaumfrachters nicht früher als am 6. Januar geplant ist. Die sechsköpfige Expedition 42-Besatzung verschob ihre Vorbereitungen für die Dragon-Mission und konzentrierte sich auf Augenuntersuchungen und Stationswartung. Astronaut Terry Virts, der zuvor 2010 auf der Mission STS-130 das Space Shuttle „Endeavour“ gesteuert hatte, arbeitete am Sabatier-System, das Wasser auf der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) produziert. Er nahm mit Kommandant Barry Wilmore (USA/NASA) und Astronautin Samantha Cristoforetti im Laufe des Vormittags und Nachmittags auch Teil an einer Reihe von Augenuntersuchungen. Wilmore und Cristoforetti waren auch Partner bei der Arbeit an der Biolab (BLB)-Einrichtung im europäischen “Columbus”-Wissenschaftslabor, die Anlage ermöglicht Experimente an Mikroorganismen, Zellen, Gewebekulturen, kleinen Pflanzen und wirbellosen Kleintieren. Die drei Kosmonauten – AlexanderSamokutjajew (Russland/Roskosmos), Anton Schkaplerow (Russland/Roskosmos) und Jelena Serowa (Russland/Roskosmos) – waren wieder bei der Arbeit für mehr Wartung innerhalb des “Sarja”-Moduls und laufender russischen Wissenschaft in ihrem Segment des Orbitallabors.
