Der Olympiapark Sotschi (Olympiastadion Sotschi, Bolschoi-Eispalast, Schaiba-Eisarena, Adler Arena, Eisberg Eislaufpalast, Ice Cube Curling Center) der Olympischen Winterspiele 2014 in Sotschi/Russland ist zu sehen. Das Gelände befindet sich etwa 30 Kilometer südlich der Kernstadt von Sotschi in Adler direkt am Schwarzen Meer und wird daher auch „Küsten-Region“ genannt. Die „Medal Plaza“ für die Siegerehrungen, das Olympische Dorf und das Medienzentrum befinden sich auch im bzw. beim Olympiapark Sotschi. Sotschi ist eine Stadt am Schwarzen Meer in Russland. Sie liegt in der Region Krasnodar nahe der Grenze zu Georgien bzw. Abchasien und hat 343.334 Einwohner (Stand 14. Oktober 2010). Sotschi ist einer der beliebtesten Bade- und Kurorte Russlands, die so genannte “(Russische) Riviera des Schwarzen Meeres“. Sie ist Universitätsstadt und Austragungsort der Olympischen Winterspiele, der Winter-Paralympics sowie des G8-Gipfels 2014. Bei der Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 2018 wird ihr Fußballstadion eine der Spielstätten sein, zudem soll in jenem Jahr der Große Preis von Russland der Formel 1-Autorennwettbewerbe in Sotschi stattfinden. Sotschi erstreckt sich über etwa 100 Kilometer Luftlinie entlang der nordöstlichen Küste des Schwarzen Meeres. Nordwestliche Grenze ist der Fluss Schepsi wenige Kilometer südlich von Tuapse, südöstliche der Fluss Psou, welcher auch die Grenze Russlands zu Georgien, bzw. der von Georgien abtrünnigen und nur von wenigen Staaten, darunter Russland, anerkannten Republik Abchasien bildet. Das Stadtzentrum Sotschis ist von der Grenze etwa 30 Kilometer entfernt.
