Ein angedockter ISS Progress 58Raumfrachter zündete am Donnerstagmorgen seine Triebwerke, um den Orbit der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) um 1.3 Statut-Meilen anzuheben. Eine zweite orbitale Bahnanhebung ist für den 3. März geplant, bevor Expedition 42 am 12. März abkoppelt und in Kasachstan landet. Die ISS-Expedition 43 wird am 27. März mit der Ein-Jahr-Besatzung vom Kosmodrom Baikonur/Kasachstan starten. Die Astronauten Barry Wilmore und Terry Virts überprüfen ihre Werkzeuge und Raumanzüge nach dem in vollem Umfang erfolgreichen Weltraumspaziergang am Mittwoch, bei dem Kabel verlegt, der führende Endeffektor des Canadarm2-Roboterarms geschmiert und die Station vorbereitet wurde  für den Umzug des Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM) und des neuen Bigelow Expandable Activity Module. Sie haben noch einen Weltraumspaziergang am Sonntag zu absolvieren, um das Einrichten der Station für zukünftige kommerzielle Raumschiffe zu beenden. Während Wilmore und Virts sich auf den dritten und letzten Außenbordeinsatz am Sonntag vorbereiten, treffen sich am Freitagmorgen die Missionsmanager, um die Vorbereitungen zu überprüfen, bevor eine  „Go-No Go“-Entscheidung getroffen wird.

Das Golden Gate der Bucht von San Francisco ist einer der bekanntesten Meerengen in der Welt aufgrund der Golden Gate Brücke, die sie überspannt. Diese hochauflösende Astronauten-Fotografie ist ein fast wolkenfreier Blick auf den nördlichen Teil der San Francisco Metropolregion. Unmittelbar südlich der Brücke befindet sich der historische Militärstützpunkt Presidio. Unmittelbar nördlich der Brücke ist die Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Die Brücke selbst erscheint deutlich, mit ihren markanten Doppelstütztürmen und orangenen Farbe.Zahlreiche Boote und Sportboote sind unterhalb und westlich der Brücke zu sehen. Der Schatten der Fahrbahnbelags der Brücke erscheint direkt westlich der Brücke selber. Ebenso werfen Wolken am Himmel ihre Schatten auf die Wasseroberfläche. Regionen von grünlich-braunem Wasser in der San Francisco Bucht markieren Wassermassen mit unterschiedlichen Mengen an Schwebstoffen, die durch die starken Gezeitenströme, die durch die Straße fließen, gestrafft werden.
