Kommandant Barry Wilmore und Bordingenieur Terry Virts überprüften am Mittwoch Außenbordeinsatz-Prozeduren. Sie sollen den ersten von drei Weltraumspaziergängen planmäßig am 20. Februar starten. Das Duo wird Kabel und Kommunikationstechnik installieren, was die zukünftige Installation von International Docking Adapters (IDA) erlaubt für das Ankoppeln von kommerziellen Raumschiffen. Ein CubeSatKleinsatellit, der im Januar an Bord des kommerziellen SpaceXDragonWeltraumfrachters zur Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) geliefert wurde, wird am Donnerstagmorgen außerhalb des  japanischen Kibō-Moduls ausgesetzt. Es werden verschiedene Subsysteme im Weltraum getestet und enthält auch ein Amateurfunk-Experiment. ESA-Flugkontrolleure untersuchen ein Signal einer Störung in einer Stromkette, die Batterieleistung für das ESA Automated Transfer Vehicle 5 (ATV-5: Georges Lemaître) bietet. Drei weitere Stromketten operieren normal innerhalb des ATV-5 und die sechsköpfige Expedition 42-Besatzung setzt ihre normalen Aktivitäten fort.

Der Balaton (Plattensee – der größte Binnensee in Westungarn und neben dem Neusiedler See im Burgenland auch der bedeutendste Steppensee Mitteleuropas) ist zu sehen. Insgesamt ist er 79 km lang und im Mittel 7,8 km breit. Die Fläche beträgt jetzt 594 km², damit ist er 14 km² größer als der Genfersee und 58 km² größer als der Bodensee. Durch die Halbinsel Tihany wird er im zweiten Drittel seiner west-östlichen Längsausdehnung auf 1,3 km eingeschnürt. Die durchschnittliche Tiefe beträgt 3,25 m, die maximale Tiefe 12,5 m. Diese geringe Tiefe erleichtert die Durchwärmung, im Sommer steigt die Wassertemperatur auf bis über 30 °C. Das Südufer des Sees ist flach, das Nordufer wird von den Weinbergen des Badacsony und den Ausläufern des Bakony gesäumt. Neben der Hauptstadt Budapest ist der Balaton das wichtigste Tourismuszentrum Ungarns. Wirtschaftliche Bedeutung haben außerdem der Weinanbau und der Fischfang. Der Balaton liegt in der Mitte Transdanubiens zwischen dem Südostrand des Bakony-Gebirges, dem Somogyer Hügelland und der Landschaft Mezőföld.
