Mitarbeiter der Bodenkontrolle manövrierten den großen Canadarm2-Roboterarm der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) an Ort und Stelle für geplante Arbeit, die während des Weltraumspaziergangs am Mittwoch stattfindet. Die Astronauten Barry Wilmore und Terry Virts werden ihren zweiten Außenbordeinsatz um 7:10 a.m. EST (13:10 MEZ) starten, um mehr Kabel zu verlegen und einen der zwei verriegelten Endeffektoren des Canadarm2 zu schmieren, diese dienen als Spitze oder Basis für den Roboterarm. Sie werden auch das „Tranquility“-Modul vorbereiten für den Umzug des Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM) und des neuen Bigelow Expandable Activity Module später in diesem Jahr. Während das Duo die Verfahren überprüfte und die Werkzeuge und Raumanzüge bereitmachten, arbeitete Samantha Cristoforetti an einer Vielzahl von Forschungen und Klempnerarbeiten. Sie trug Ausrüstung für das Drain Brain Experiment, das studiert, wie Blut aus dem Gehirn zurück fließt zum Herzen in der Schwerelosigkeit. Die drei Expedition 42-Kosmonauten genossen einen freien Tag für den „Tag des Verteidigers des Vaterlandes“

Die erste volle Arbeitswoche des Jahres 2015 für die Expedition 42 beinhaltet fortgeschrittene Forschung, hochfliegende Installateurarbeit und die Vorbereitungen für die Ankunft des SpaceXDragonRaumfrachters. Der kommerzielle Dragon-Raumfrachter ist fällig für den Start am Dienstag um 6:20 a.m. und wird ungefähr 48 Stunden später an der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) eingefangen.  Kommandant Barry Wilmore arbeitete am ESA-Haptics-1-Experiment, die Erprobung der Fernsteuerung von Robotern auf dem Boden vom Orbit mit Hilfe eines Joysticks. Später half er Bordingenieur Terry Virts beim Einsammeln von Werkzeugen für drei Weltraumspaziergänge, die vorläufig für den Februar geplant sind und die die ISS vorbereiten für künftige kommerzielle Raumschiffe und Raumfrachter. Virts begann den Montag mit einer regelmäßigen Fitness-Auswertung, als er und Astronautin Samantha Cristoforetti sich auf einem Heimtrainer abwechselten. Virts fuhr dann fort mit Klempnerarbeiten und ersetzte eine Dosierungspumpe im Abfall- und Hygiene-Abteil. Cristoforetti nahm dann Teil an einem Ausbildungs-Experiment, das die Möglichkeit untersucht, Pflanzen zu verwenden, um Nahrung und Sauerstoff in der Station zu produzieren. Im russischen Segment des Orbitallabors studierten die Kosmonauten Anton Schkaplerow, Alexander Samokutjajew(Russland/Roskosmos) und Jelena Serowa  (Russland/Roskosmos) Wege, um Mikrometeoriten-Einschläge an der ISS zu erkennen, arbeiteten an Wartung und fotografierten Fenster für eine Kontaminationskontrolle.
