Am 5. Februar 1971 landete das Apollo 14Besatzungsmodul auf dem Mond. Die Besatzungsmitglieder waren Captain Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. (USN), Kommandant, Major Stuart Allen Roosa (USAF), Kommandomodul (CM)-Pilot und Kommandant Edgar Dean Mitchell (USN), Pilot der Mondlandefähre. Shepard steht auf diesem Foto neben dem Modular Equipment Transporter (MET). Der MET war eine Art Handkarre, um Werkzeuge, Kameras und Musterkoffer auf der Mondoberfläche herumzutragen. Shepard kann identifiziert werden durch die vertikalen Streifen auf seinem Helm. Nach der Apollo 13-Mission hatte der Raumanzug der Kommandanten rote Streifen am Helm, den Armen und einem Bein, um zu helfen sie auf Fotografien zu identifizieren.
